Sold Out Motorcycles

Sold Out Motorcycles has been building bespoke customs for two decades and in that time has built a reputation that travels well beyond its Suffolk base. Originally founded by Shaun Walker, whose background in the UK custom scene includes a formative stint at Down & Out Motorcycles, the workshop established itself on the strength of its signature style and fabrication capability before changing hands in late 2022.

Under the stewardship of Daniel Ward Starmer and Tony Walters, Sold Out Motorcycles made a pivot toward Royal Enfield’s 650 twin platform,  drawing attention from outlets including BikeBound and the Bike Shed Show.

That pivot wasn’t arbitrary. The reaction to Sold Out’s early Royal Enfield builds and the volume of requests for individual components, made the direction obvious. The workshop now operates a dual model: bespoke one-off commissions alongside a growing range of custom parts developed in-house for the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, Super Meteor 650 and Bear 650.

Exhausts, loop and seat kits, wide fork kits for fat-tyre conversions, billet foot controls, top yokes, mudguards, tail tidies, the parts catalogue reflects the same thinking that goes into the full builds – considered, purposeful and grounded in genuine fabrication capability.

The builds themselves lean toward bratstyle, scrambler and modern classic territory. The Mudslinger, a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 scrambler built for the 2023 Bike Shed Show, brought together KTM EXC forks, a 21-inch front wheel, high pipes and Candy Red paint in a way that felt authentically retro rather than cosplay.

Coverage of the workshop’s fat-tyred Interceptor has described it as a mature, clean take on a modern classic, which is about as accurate a summary of the Sold Out aesthetic as you’re likely to find.

For riders considering a commission, the process is structured and transparent. An initial enquiry leads to a consultation, a design proposal and then the build itself, with regular updates along the way.

For those after something more accessible, the Bike Shed MotoWorks 650 Scrambler is offered across three tiers, from an entry-level package at £3,395 through to a full custom build including paintwork and upgraded suspension. It’s a sensible framework that makes the Sold Out experience available at different levels of investment without compromising on the core approach.
