Storik
Based in a tranquil studio in Belchamp Walter, Suffolk, Storik is less of a traditional motorcycle shop and more of a design-led atelier.
Founded in 2013 by Laurent Amann, a French automotive design engineer, the studio evolved in 2018 when he was joined by his partner, Benzir, a registered British architect. Together, they have forged an interdisciplinary practice that bridges the gaps between architecture, engineering, and high-level craftsmanship.
The name “Storik” is a phonetic homage to the white storks of Alsace, creatures that symbolise dedication, endurance, and a love for travel. These qualities mirror the workshop’s approach to building.
Laurent’s philosophy is deeply rooted in the principles of Robert M. Pirsig’s Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. He views the build process as a path toward rationality and “care”. This mindset ensures that every project is treated as a design object rather than just a machine. Each with focus on balance, proportion and the elegance of form that borders on functional art.
A true master of metalwork, Laurent has a particular fascination with hand-formed sheet metal.
The workshop specialises in extensive hand-fabrication, creating one-off bespoke components including hand-formed metal bodywork and custom fuel tanks. Bespoke subframes and structural components, sculptural brackets and unique metal elements are tailored for each project.
For riders and collectors seeking a commission, the process is highly collaborative and transparent. Storik offers in a design-led engagement that begins with hand-drawn sketches and moves through rigorous research and creative thinking.
The workshop prioritises deliberate quality over production speed, offering an environment more akin to a design studio than a high-volume garage.
Whether Laurent is applying his automotive engineering expertise to a modern classic or a minimalist sculptural custom, the goal is to create meaningful work that celebrates the process of making.
For riders who value authenticity and architectural precision, Storik creates machines whose sum of parts is a testament to craftsmanship and high-end design.
