Foundry Motorcycle
Foundry Motorcycle occupies a particular corner of the British custom scene that’s genuinely hard to replicate. It grew out of a blacksmith’s forge and that origin isn’t just a good story; it’s shaped the workshop’s aesthetic.
Founder Tom Simpson brought a metalworker’s instincts to motorcycle building, and the results speak for themselves. These aren’t bolt-on customs or catalogue specials. They’re machines that look like they’ve been grown rather than assembled.
The foundation of that approach is fabrication: exhausts, subframes and bespoke components. Foundry makes them rather than sources them, which means a commission isn’t limited by what’s available off the shelf. The workshop’s philosophy is to bring something genuinely new to every project, deliberately avoiding the temptation to repeat what worked before. You can feel that in the details.
The build portfolio spans Moto Guzzi street trackers through to reimagined Japanese and European & British cafe racers, sprinkled with American Big-V bobber builds, connected not by a single style but a consistent standard of craftsmanship.
If you’re considering a commission, Foundry’s full-service offering is worth understanding. The workshop handles everything from initial concept and design through to engine work, finishing and the production of bespoke handcrafted accessories and components. It’s a genuinely end-to-end operation, which matters when you’re investing seriously in a build.
The quality of Foundry Motorcycle’s work means it’s regularly featured in the custom bike press, gracing the pages of Bike EXIF and Built Magazine. It’s also a frequent attendee of major UK motorcycle events.
Foundry Motorcycle is unpretentious, considered and serious about motorcycle building without making a performance of it.
